Gyeonggi Province Launches Recent Women and Family Fund

Gyeonggi Province has established a new Women and Family Fund to support policies focused on gender equality and family well-being. This fund replaces the previous Gender Equality Fund, which expired on December 31, 2023 and will be governed by the ‘Gyeonggi-do Women and Family Fund Establishment and Management Ordinance’.

Fund Allocation and Key Initiatives

A total of 900 million won will be invested in five key areas this year:

  • Gender Equality Contest (650 million won): Projects aimed at fostering a family-friendly social culture, preventing gender-based violence, and increasing women’s participation in society will receive funding.
  • Child Care Training (75 million won): Training programs for child caregivers will be enhanced with practical, play-based learning content focused on infant and toddler development.
  • Gyeonggi Child Love Parent School (100 million won): This initiative will provide parents with one-on-one counseling, customized education, and special lectures to strengthen their parenting skills.
  • Gyeonggi I-PLUS Card Benefits (18 million won): Promotional efforts will highlight the benefits of the reformed ‘Gyeonggi I-PLUS Card’ and encourage support for families with multiple children.
  • Single-Person Household Support (173 million won): In collaboration with 22 cities and counties, customized programs will be offered to single-person households, focusing on social networking, health management, housing stability, and leisure activities. This includes 52 million won from the fund and additional contributions from cities and counties.

Commitment to Gender Equality and Family Support

Kim Hae-ryeon, head of the Provincial Women’s Policy Department, emphasized that the Women and Family Fund will be used for a variety of projects, including gender equality contests, child care training, parent schools, and support for single-person households. She added that the province will systematically manage project outcomes to promote gender equality, reduce the burden of family care, and expand support for diverse family structures Gyeonggi-do Women & Family Foundation.

The Gyeonggi-do Women & Family Foundation, established in 2005, is dedicated to promoting gender equality and the happiness of citizens in Gyeonggi Province History of the Foundation.
