Gyeongsan City Launches New Youth Center and Policy Control Tower

Gyeongsan City, South Korea, has officially opened its new Youth Center, a dedicated space designed to support the city’s young residents. The opening ceremony, held on March 19, 2026, was attended by approximately 150 individuals, including city and provincial councilors, heads of relevant organizations, youth group representatives, and local residents.

A Hub for Youth Development

The Gyeongsan City Youth Center spans 383.25 square meters across two floors. It offers a variety of facilities, including an open studio, cafeteria, conference room, counseling room, shared workroom, and study room. These spaces will be used to provide practical support to young people, encompassing psychological counseling, capacity-building programs, and cultural and experiential activities.

Youth Policy Control Tower: Empowering Young Voices

A key highlight of the opening ceremony was the launch of the Youth Policy Control Tower. This initiative aims to directly involve young people in the policy-making process. Participants in the launch performance represented diverse backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities, multicultural backgrounds, university students, those involved in agriculture, and representatives from the culture and arts sectors.

Collaborative Approach to Youth Support

Gyeongsan City is collaborating with several organizations to create an integrated youth support system. Participating entities include the Gyeongsangbuk-do Youth Center, Gyeongbuk Youth Entrepreneurship Support Center, Gyeongsan Chamber of Commerce, Employment Welfare Plus Center, Gyeongsan Culture and Tourism Foundation, and Yeungnam University Multicultural Integration Support Center. These organizations will contribute to youth policy governance and the delivery of comprehensive support services.

City’s Commitment to Youth

Gyeongsan Mayor Cho Hyun-il emphasized the city’s commitment to youth development, stating that the Youth Center will function in partnership with various local organizations to provide effective support and opportunities for young people in the community.
