Haiwaan Box Office: Akshay Kumar & Saif Ali Khan Film Starts Slow

Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s latest theatrical release, Haiwaan, experienced a slow start at the box office, grossing Rs. 2.50 crore on its opening day, according to reports by Pinkvilla.

Haiwaan Box Office Performance and Reception

Opening to a subdued Rs. 2.50 crore on day one, Haiwaan drew mixed reactions from audiences and critics alike. According to Telegraph India, first-day viewer responses ranged sharply from dismissive assessments to blockbuster praise. Reviewers also offered divergent critiques of the lead performances; Rediff described Akshay Kumar’s acting style as over-the-top and Saif Ali Khan’s performance as subdued, while The Hindu noted that Saif Ali Khan labored in what it termed a defanged thriller directed by Priyadarshan. NDTV reported that the film entered a crowded theatrical window competing against the Mirzapur film and the Hanuman Ansh wave.

Akshay Kumar on Box Office Pressures and Welcome to the Jungle

Amid discussions surrounding his film releases, Akshay Kumar recently addressed box office pressures and industry misconceptions in a conversation with the Hindustan Times. Responding to reports of his earlier film Welcome to the Jungle crossing Rs. 65 crore in its opening weekend, Akshay kept his reaction short by telling the Hindustan Times, “Just two words: Jai Mahakal!” Directed by Ahmed Khan, Welcome to the Jungle features Akshay in a double role alongside a massive ensemble cast including Suniel Shetty, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Aftab Shivdasani, Jackie Shroff, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehendi, and Mika Singh.

Career Longevity and Industry Misconceptions

Reflecting on his three-decade career, Akshay Kumar told the Hindustan Times about the persistent misconceptions surrounding his work ethic. “That I have some secret machine at home that produces four films a year! But it’s all about time management and discipline. Another misconception is that because I’ve been around for more than three decades, everything comes easy to me now. It doesn’t. Every Friday still feels like an exam result. Every film still gives me butterflies,” he stated. He added that the moment he stops feeling nervous or excited about a new project will mark the day he retires.
