American Express Adds Airbnb Bookings and New Credits to Platinum Cards
American Express has added more than 1 million Airbnb listings to its booking platform alongside new statement credits for Airbnb Luxe stays and Airbnb Experiences, CNBC reported. The update extends cardholder perks to a short-term rental market that has historically offered few rewards opportunities outside of standard credit card cash-back redemptions.

Cardholders of the American Express Platinum Card and The Business Platinum Card can now earn 5 Membership Rewards points per dollar on prepaid Airbnb bookings made through the Amex Travel site or the Amex Travel App. Most other eligible Membership Rewards cards earn 2 points per dollar on those same prepaid bookings, according to reporting by The Points Guy.
Lodging Credit Expansion and the Two-Night Stay Rule
The up to $600 annual hotel statement credit on the Platinum and Business Platinum cards is now renamed a lodging credit and applies to prepaid Airbnb Luxe stays of two nights or more. Cardholders still receive the benefit split into semi-annual statement credits of up to $300 each, which can also be applied toward qualifying Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection bookings.
Alongside this expansion, American Express is tightening stay requirements across its travel portfolio. Effective January 1, 2027, Fine Hotels + Resorts bookings will require a minimum two-night stay to remain eligible for the $600 hotel credit. Previously, only stays booked through The Hotel Collection required a minimum two-night stay, while Fine Hotels + Resorts permitted single-night bookings to trigger the credit.
New Airbnb Experiences Credit and Business Perks
Both consumer and business cardholders can now access an annual statement credit of up to $250 for Airbnb Experiences. This credit unlocks when cardholders book an eligible prepaid Airbnb Luxe stay through Amex Travel, though the experiences themselves are booked directly through Airbnb and cover activities ranging from walking tours to cultural excursions.
