The four defendants, aged 36 to 58, were found guilty of membership in a foreign terrorist organization and related offenses. Judges determined they acted as foreign operatives for the Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, and had established firearms caches across Europe . The stockpiles were intended for apply in potential attacks on Israeli, Jewish, or other facilities over an extended period.
Possible targets identified by the court included the Israeli embassy in Berlin, the US Ramstein airbase, and the area around Berlin’s disused Tempelhof airport . The weapons were too intended for attacks in other European countries, including Poland, Bulgaria, and Denmark.

Subsequent arrests were made in connection with alleged arms procurement for Hamas in multiple European locations, including Berlin, London, and at the German-Czech and German-Danish borders . A suspect was also arrested at Berlin Airport upon arrival from Beirut in January.
All four convicted men were born in Lebanon, with one also holding Egyptian citizenship and another Dutch nationality. Three primarily resided in Germany, while one lived mainly in the Netherlands. They were initially arrested in December 2023 and have been in custody since then .
