Hanam City Inspects Childrens Favorite Foods for Nutrition and Allergen Labels
Hanam City launched an inspection sweep targeting 102 food establishments to check compliance with nutrition and allergen labeling rules for children’s favorite foods, kijnews.com reported. The municipal government is running the targeted enforcement from October 21 to October 29 across local bakeries, ice cream shops, hamburger outlets, and pizzerias.
The inspection covers food businesses operating as part of franchise systems with 50 or more total locations, including both direct-management stores and franchises. Officials are checking whether these businesses properly disclose five core nutritional components—calories, sugars, protein, saturated fat, and sodium—alongside 22 potential allergen-inducing foods such as milk and peanuts, according to kijnews.com. Inspectors are also verifying adherence to basic sanitation rules.
Delivery Apps and Field Checks Target 102 Businesses Across Hanam
The city divided its oversight strategy based on where the businesses operate within the municipality. kijnews.com reported that authorities are combining physical field inspections with delivery application checks for 14 establishments located inside designated food safety protection zones.
For the remaining 88 businesses situated outside those protected zones, inspectors are conducting compliance reviews exclusively through online delivery platforms. The inspections focus heavily on the top four delivery apps used by consumers, ensuring that nutritional values and allergen warnings are clearly visible before a customer places an order.
Administrative Action Follows Noncompliance Findings
Hanam City stated that any businesses found violating labeling requirements during the October inspection window will face formal administrative measures. The municipal government plans to maintain ongoing monitoring of noncompliant vendors until they correct their menu and platform disclosures. City officials intend for the oversight to establish a reliable marketplace environment where children and parents can verify nutritional facts and allergen lists before purchasing meals.
