Frida Rosell slipped on the advertising floor – and pulled the cruciate ligament.

Now the handball star will be gone for a year.

“Incredibly unfair way to injure yourself,” writes the 26-year-old.

First Thea Kylberg, then Linn Blohm and now Frida Rosell.

In the space of just over a month, three Swedish handball stars have pulled their cruciate ligament and will now be out for a long time (9-12 months absence is normal when the anterior cruciate ligament is torn).

Rosell’s accident was of the more odd kind.

“Always disliked floor advertising”

The 26-year-old – who has made five caps, the most recent just under three years ago – plays for Denmark’s Høj and in a league match against Esbjerg a week ago she slipped on the floor advertisement when she took a few steps backwards after a seizure.

“HOW do I pull the cruciate ligament from slipping on the floor advertising?? Always disliked floor advertising on the field, always will…
Incredibly unfair way to injure yourself. My anterior cruciate ligament is off in my right knee and now surgery is expected shortly,” she writes on her Instagram.

Rosell, originally from Stockholm, won two SM golds in her two seasons with Sävehof before turning pro abroad in 2023. In her final season at Sävehof, she was named the league’s best left-back.
