Hanoi’s healthcare sector is poised for significant advancements through deepened cooperation with Japan, with a particular focus on four key areas: proton therapy for cancer treatment, stem cell technology in regenerative medicine, hematology for blood disease treatment, and comprehensive geriatric care. Strategic Partnership Forged Between Hanoi and Japan

On March 11, 2026, the Hanoi Department of Health convened a meeting with the Japan International Medical Coordination Association (JIMCA) to outline a collaborative framework between Hanoi-based hospitals and Japanese medical institutions. The initiative seeks to develop specialized medical fields and elevate the overall standard of medical care within the city.

The meeting included representatives from Hanoi’s Department of Health, as well as leaders from Xanh Pon General Hospital, Duc Giang General Hospital, Ha Dong General Hospital, Hanoi Oncology Hospital, and Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. The Japanese delegation comprised representatives from JIMCA and healthcare professionals from Japan.

Four Priority Areas for Collaboration

Dr. Nguyen Trong Dien, Director of the Hanoi Department of Health, emphasized the importance of international collaboration in accessing cutting-edge medical technologies and best practices. He highlighted Japan’s advanced medical system, innovative treatment technologies, and effective hospital management as key assets for Hanoi’s healthcare development.
