At approximately 8:05 p.m. On Thursday, March 19, 2026, the driver of a red Hyundai Tucson lost control of the vehicle on West 125th Street near Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard . The vehicle initially struck two male pedestrians before colliding with an unoccupied parked NYPD vehicle and a tractor-trailer.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with debris scattered across the roadway. “I hear, it was like explosion. Hit the gray car that was waiting over here. Then the pieces, they flew off, hit my car too. And then when he hit the gray car, he ran into the truck over there,” said Jonathan Morillo . One witness recounted seeing the car “kept hitting the gas” and dragging victims under the hood .
Victims and Injuries
The victim who died has been identified as Darly Zacharias, 28, of the Bronx . He was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Morningside. A 33-year-old cyclist was rushed to NYC Health+Hospitals/Harlem and remains in critical condition .
