Harlowe Omni 360: Affordable Lighting for 360° Shooters

For years, 360° camera users have faced a significant challenge: illuminating their scenes evenly. Traditional video lights cast directional illumination, creating stark contrasts in spherical footage. Now, Harlowe is offering a solution with the Omni 360, an omnidirectional LED light designed specifically for 360° cameras, starting at $95.

The Problem with Traditional Lighting

360° cameras capture footage in every direction, but standard video lights only illuminate a single direction. This results in brightly lit foregrounds and dim, underexposed backgrounds, creating an uneven and unnatural look. Correcting this in post-production can be tedious and often yields suboptimal results. Many 360° shooters have simply avoided low-light situations to circumvent the issue.

Introducing the Harlowe Omni 360

Launched on March 17, 2026, the Harlowe Omni 360 2W is a compact LED light that emits illumination forward, backward, and to the sides, filling the entire immersive field of view captured by 360° cameras. It’s available as a standalone unit for $95, or bundled with camera cages designed for the Insta360 X5 and DJI Osmo 360.

Key Features and Specifications

  • Price: $95 (standalone)
  • Light Output: 2W (boostable to 4W)
  • Control: Onboard buttons and gesture control
  • Beam Mode: Switchable 180-degree beam mode
  • Durability: IP54 rating (dust and splash resistant)

Bundled Options and Accessories

Harlowe offers optional camera cages for the Insta360 X5 and DJI Osmo 360, available as part of a $159 bundle with the Omni 360. These cages feature cold shoe mounts for attaching the light, and positioning it on top minimizes its visibility in the 360° footage.

How it Compares to the Competition

The Harlowe Omni 360 significantly undercuts the price of existing omnidirectional lights, such as the Bushman Halo 360, which currently sells for $239 at B&H Photo Video. The Omni 360 also adds features like gesture control and a switchable 180-degree beam mode.

Limitations

While the Omni 360 provides a significant improvement over traditional lighting, its 2W or 4W output isn’t powerful enough to fully illuminate dark environments. It’s best suited for providing supplemental lighting to subjects close to the camera, reducing harsh shadows and creating highlights.

Where to Buy

The Harlowe Omni 360 is available for purchase at Harlowe and B&H.
