– The preliminary autopsy, combined with the other evidence, weakens the suspicion of murder. We have assessed the conditions for detention as not met, and the woman is released, says police attorney Unni Byberg Malmin.

The woman, who is in her 40s, is charged with murder. The police inform VG that the charge is upheld.

Lawyer Silje Christine Hellesen is the woman’s defender.

– If there are no reasonable grounds for suspicion in a criminal case, the basic condition for detention is not present, and the release of my client is correct and as expected, she tells VG on Sunday.

Autopsied

Police said on Saturday that they are investigating the case broadly.

– We work on the basis of various hypotheses, one of which is murder. We continue to work on checking the accused’s explanation against other information in the investigative material, said police attorney Unni Byberg Malmin on Saturday evening.

An autopsy was performed on the deceased woman on Saturday.

– We have received the preliminary autopsy report. I can’t go into the details on this right now. This is for the sake of the further investigation, Byberg Malmin said on Saturday evening.

Responded to yelling

The emergency services were alerted by a passerby who responded to shouting from the apartment at around 8pm on Friday. The police entered the apartment, where they found the woman in her 30s lifeless.

VG spoke on Saturday with one of the neighbors of the crime scene, who moved into the building last year.

He says he heard noise and shouting from the apartment in question on Friday night.

The neighbor says that he has been used to a lot of noise and shouting from the apartment.
