A Eurostar that left London on Tuesday evening arrived in Lille on Wednesday morning due to a breakdown: an 11-hour night of hardship for passengers on a train without electricity.
“There I’m going to go and sleep again a little before New Year’s Eve“, slips Ghislain Plancke. This 56-year-old computer engineer who lives in the lille metropolis is one of the “castaways” of the Eurostar: the train which was to leave Tuesday evening from London at 6 p.m. finally arrived in lille on Wednesday morning shortly after 7 a.m., when it should have reached its destination the day before early in the evening.
After returning to London, the train finally reached Lille-Europe around 7:10 a.m. Eurostar has promised its customers a “enhanced compensation“.
