Hera Group and Budrio Basketball: A Sustainable Partnership

Budrio, Italy – A new partnership between the Hera Group, a leading Italian environmental operator, and Pallacanestro Budrio aims to integrate sustainability into the world of sports. The two-year agreement, signed on January 9th, seeks to promote responsible environmental behavior among athletes, staff, families, and fans.

Promoting Environmental Awareness Through Sport

The collaboration builds upon Hera Group’s existing commitment to sustainable development and responsible practices, as demonstrated by a similar partnership established in 2024 with Bologna Football Club MSN. This initiative transforms team play into a tool for environmental education and awareness.

Key Initiatives of the Partnership

The partnership will focus on developing initiatives to encourage virtuous behavior and the adoption of sustainable practices in the management of sporting events. Specific projects include:

  • Prevention of waste production
  • Combating food waste
  • Recovery of food surpluses
  • Analysis and optimization of waste management
  • Environmental information and communication initiatives for staff and attendees

A Broader Commitment to Sustainability

Hera Group’s involvement with Pallacanestro Budrio reflects a broader strategy to integrate sustainability into various aspects of Italian life. The company aims to promote models of sustainable development and responsible behavior throughout its service chain Bologna 24 Ore.

Pallacanestro Budrio’s Recent Performance

Pallacanestro Budrio has demonstrated strong performance in regional competitions. The team reached the finals last season and qualified for the play-offs this year after a close contest with Parma, securing their spot on the last day of the season with a comeback win in Cento Quotidian Sport. They will face Despar 4 Torri in a preliminary round for promotion to the finals, with the top three teams from the thirty-three participating in the championship advancing.

Despar has won both seasonal matches against Budrio in Group B this season (54-64 in Budrio and 70-52 at Pala Aeffe). Though, Budrio previously secured victories against Despar last season (54-70 in Ferrara and 66-55 in Budrio) Quotidian Sport.
