Stars Defeat Islanders Behind Robertson Multi-Goal Night
Jason Robertson scored twice and the Dallas Stars surged with a three-goal third period to secure a 6-3 victory over the New York Islanders on Sunday night at the American Airlines Center. The win extends the Stars’ winning streak to five games, powered by offensive depth and a strong penalty-killing unit. We executed some 2-on-1s, some odd-man rushes, and goals went in,
Robertson said. That’s just a shot of confidence for everyone in the locker room.
Third-Period Breakaway Sparks Dallas Attack
The game remained tightly contested through forty minutes before Dallas broke the deadlock in the final frame. Wyatt Johnston put the Stars ahead 4-3 at the 4:10 mark of the third period, converting from the slot on a feed from Nils Lundqvist. Robertson added his second of the night on a breakaway at 9:45, stretching the lead to two goals. Mikko Rantanen capped the offensive surge four minutes later with his team-high sixth goal of the season. Tyler Seguin and Justin Hryckowian also scored for Dallas, while goaltender Jake Oettinger stopped 16 shots to preserve the win. The victory keeps the Stars perfect over their last five outings while maintaining a flawless penalty kill, successfully neutralizing all three New York power plays to bring their streak to 20 consecutive kills.

Islanders Fall Despite Resilient Multi-Goal Comebacks
The Islanders erased three separate one-goal deficits before fading in the game’s final ten minutes, dropping consecutive games in regulation or overtime (0-1-1) for the first time this season. Defenseman Matthew Schaefer tied the game 1-1 during 4-on-4 play in the first period, netting his 25th goal in his 93rd NHL game to pass Bobby Orr for the second-most goals by a teenage defenseman in NHL history. Kyle Palmieri and Brayden Schenn also scored for New York, while Ilya Sorokin stopped 32 shots in a losing effort that yielded a season-high in goals allowed. I think we could’ve been tighter in our D-zone, ended more plays,
Palmieri said after the final horn. For whatever reasons, we weren’t executing breaking the puck out and weren’t doing a great job ending plays in our D-zone.

DeBoer Return and Historic Family Debuts
Sunday’s matchup marked the return to Dallas for Pete DeBoer, who took over the Islanders with four games to play last season following his June 2025 firing by the Stars. DeBoer had led Dallas to the conference finals in each of his three Dallas seasons before his departure. The game also featured a milestone for the Hryckowian family as brothers Justin and Dylan skated together on the Dallas fourth line. Dylan Hryckowian and fellow forward Matthew Seminoff both made their NHL debuts, starting the game alongside Justin.

Upcoming Schedule for Dallas and New York
The Islanders continue their three-game Central Division road trip on Tuesday night when they visit Nashville. Meanwhile, the Stars play the fourth contest of a six-game homestand by hosting New Jersey on Tuesday night, where health decisions loom for injured forwards Radek Faksa and Sam Steel.
