“This game is really ten times more intense than you think”
At the beginning of the episode, Devran and Tatum are cursed. When Giel wins the quest, he chooses to go to the box with Tanja and Tatum. The agreement is clear: Giel opens the box, takes Tatum out and puts Mandy in it. The other two keep the box closed.
Simple, think Tanja and Tatum. “There really is that confidence in our triangular association,” says Tanja just before the decisive moment. Not knowing that the plan was doomed to failure.
Tatum goes to the box first. Despite her own head being inside, she keeps her end of the bargain and leaves the box closed, just as they agreed. Then it is Giel’s turn, after which Tanja follows. “Then you are so determined about what you are going to do, and then at the last minute I can change everything. How difficult this is,” Giel admits.
Afterwards, he decides to keep the box closed and not save Tatum. For him, the 10,000 euros extra in the prize pool that he earns as a result is worth more than fulfilling his promise and keeping his league intact.
Total chaos ensues when presenter Ruben Nicolai announces that the box remained closed. “Sorry honey,” says Giel. Tatum nods, visibly emotional. “It’s okay,” she says with tears in her eyes. The entire group is stunned and Mandy cannot believe her ears. “This game is really ten times more intense than you think,” she says in disbelief.
For Tanja it feels like a hammer blow. The triangular bond she believed in falls apart. Ultimately, Devran and Tatum are pitted against each other in the ordeal. Tatum fights to the limit, but loses just before the final.
