Hilary Swank Expects Third Child in December and Defends Later Motherhood
Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank is expecting her third child in December, sharing the announcement just as she steps out in New York City with a visible baby bump. The 52-year-old performer addressed public criticism regarding older motherhood by pointing out a double standard faced by women compared to men, De Telegraaf reported.
Swank revealed the pregnancy on Instagram through a video featuring her husband, Philip Schneider, and their three-year-old twins, Aya and Ohm. The family danced together with glowsticks attached to their bodies before Swank displayed her own baby bump, complete with a smaller glowstick for the incoming family member. She captioned the post with a playful nod to her upcoming timeline, stating that the project releases in December.
New York Public Appearance Follows Social Media Reveal
Shortly after sharing the digital announcement, Swank made her first public appearance in New York. Photographers captured the actress leaving the studio after an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” according to Headliner.nl. She wore a white top displaying her growing baby bump, paired with a colorful chunky knit cardigan, loose low-rise jeans, and black boots while waving to fans.
The upcoming arrival follows the birth of her twins, Aya and Ohm, in April 2023, shortly before Swank turned 48. Swank and Schneider married in August 2018. Prior to her marriage to Schneider, Swank was married to actor Chad Lowe from 1997 to 2007.
Reflecting on Parenthood and Public Double Standards
Addressing the commentary surrounding her age, Swank criticized the societal scrutiny directed at women who choose to have children later in life. She stated that men do not face the same level of questioning or judgment regarding their age when becoming parents, as reported by De Telegraaf.

In an interview with Women’s Health, Swank reflected on how her experience as an older parent differs from earlier years. She described herself as possessing more patience and understanding now that her career is firmly established. While noting that she would have preferred children earlier, she emphasized that the timing fits seamlessly with other aspects of her life, allowing her to remain fully present as a parent.
