Affordable Housing Project Planned for Hollywood
A modern affordable housing development is slated for construction at 1833 N. Wilton Place in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The project, proposed by applicant and property owner Benjamin Jian Hao Zhu, aims to address the ongoing demand for affordable housing options in the city.
Project Details
Plans call for a five-story building encompassing 48 apartments, primarily studio and one-bedroom units. Notably, the development will not include on-site parking. The project will utilize development incentives through the Citywide Housing Incentive Program, catering to a mix of low- and moderate-income renters.
Design and Location
Kevin Tsai Architecture is responsible for the design of the proposed building, which renderings depict as a contemporary wood-frame structure with painted stucco cladding. The location is one block east of another planned mixed-income development at an empty lot on Taft Avenue, which will include 33 units. Urbanize LA first reported on the project on February 16, 2026.
Los Angeles City Planning Updates
As of early 2025, all new applications within the Downtown Community Plan Area are subject to the New Zoning Code and require the use of revised forms, available on the Department of City Planning’s Forms page. The Los Angeles City Planning Department, the largest of its kind in the nation with nearly 450 employees, provides a bi-weekly report on case filings and completed cases to neighborhood councils and community members.
