Hong Kong Man Claims Girlfriend Was an Alien in Murder Trial
A 56-year-old man in Hong Kong is on trial for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, claiming he believed she was not human because she was unable to bear him a child. Tang Lung-fai admitted to causing the death of Fok Sin-yee, 38, during a dispute at their home in Ma On Shan on or around April 14, 2022, but denies intending to kill her.
Details of the Case
The High Court jury heard that Tang and Fok had been living together since 2015, after meeting in a bar around 2012. According to Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Raymond Cheng Hoi-chung, an argument escalated into a physical altercation on the morning of April 14th, resulting in serious injuries to Fok.
Tang made three emergency calls between 6:13 a.m. And 6:30 a.m. On April 14, 2022, stating he had killed his girlfriend and requesting police assistance.
Defense Argument
The defendant’s defense centers around his belief that Fok was not a human being, stemming from their inability to have children together. He reportedly questioned her humanity, leading to the fatal confrontation.
Ongoing Trial
The trial is ongoing, with a jury of four men and three women hearing the evidence presented by the prosecution and defense. The court will determine whether Tang intended to cause grievous bodily harm or kill his partner.
