Honor recorded the highest smartphone sales growth among all major brands in 2025. The latest report from Omdia shows that Honor smartphone shipments increased 11% compared to the previous year, which far exceeds the industry average growth of 2%.

This growth places Honor as the best performing brand, even surpassing Apple and Samsung, which each recorded a 7% increase in shipments. At the same time, several other Chinese brands experienced a decline in shipments, such as Oppo and Xiaomi.

Global Smartphone Market Growth

Global smartphone shipments grew by 2% in 2025, the largest figure since 2021. This increase was driven by strong demand for the latest models from Apple and Samsung. The iPhone 17 models helped Apple reach shipments of 240.6 million units.

Samsung also achieved success with increasingly improved sales of the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, in the Android segment, Honor is the star with the most significant growth spurt. This shows the changing competitive landscape in the smartphone market.

Honor Performance and Product Strategy

Honor released several flagship devices throughout this year, including the Honor Magic V5 foldable and Honor Magic 8 Pro. These products are well received by consumers and provide significant added value to the brand.

Honor’s position as the only major Chinese brand to record positive growth shows a smart product strategy and precise adaptation to market needs. In contrast, Oppo experienced a decline of 3%, and Xiaomi fell 2%, while Vivo only grew by 4%.

Industry Dynamics and Future Challenges

While growth in 2025 is encouraging, the report warns of a potential slowdown in the following year. Rising component prices, especially memory, as well as increased competition from data centers for component supplies, have the potential to increase production costs.

This increase is likely to be passed on to consumers, so smartphone prices could become more expensive. As a result, consumer purchasing power is decreasing and global smartphone sales are expected to be slower in the future.

Honor’s developments and innovations that are of concern

Honor is not only focusing on conventional devices but is also reportedly developing new technology. Rumors suggest that Honor is working on a “Robot phone” that combines a gimbal camera and artificial intelligence (AI) features.

The new device is expected to be announced at the MWC 2025 event, bringing innovations that may change the way users use their smartphones. Apart from that, Honor is also rumored to be introducing a new, more sophisticated generation of foldable.

Big Brand Competition in Android Market

Samsung and Apple remain the main competitors with huge market power. However, the re-emergence of brands like Honor indicates a healthier diversification of competition. Honor’s growth indicates that consumers are increasingly open to alternative brands that demonstrate innovation and good value.

In the Chinese brand sector, apart from Honor which is growing rapidly, Vivo also showed moderate growth of 4%. This indicates a new dynamic that needs to be considered in the coming years.

Smartphone Shipment Growth Comparison 2025:

Brand Delivery Growth Information
Honor +11% The highest increase in the flagship category
Apple +7% Supported iPhone 17 requests
Samsung +7% Didukung Galaxy S25 & Z Fold 7
Vivo +4% Moderate growth
Oppo -3% Decrease
Xiaomi -2% Decrease

Overall Smartphone Market Conditions

The smartphone industry is facing supply chain pressure and rising component costs. However, 2025 shows that product innovation and brand appeal will still be able to drive sales growth.

Brands that are able to innovate like Honor and take advantage of new technological trends have a great opportunity to consolidate their position in the global market. Consumers are also increasingly selective in choosing devices that offer features and performance according to their needs.

Honor’s growth in this context is not just a matter of numbers, but also a signal that the smartphone industry is increasingly dynamic and competitive. Further developments will be very interesting to continue to follow, especially regarding innovative products from Honor which can be a game changer in the market.
