Hot Wheels Infinite Rush: Review and Early Access Launch Details

Hot Wheels Infinite Rush launches worldwide on September 10, 2026, bringing the toy car franchise into an open-world sandbox format for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, ROG Xbox Ally, ROG Xbox Ally X, and PC, according to the press release. Players gain early access starting September 7, 2026, across supported platforms.

Exploring Four Distinct Open-World Islands

For the first time in the series, players can freely explore a Hot Wheels-sized world split into four distinct islands, according to the press release. The adventure begins in Wheelswood, an urban hub featuring skyscrapers and bustling streets overseen by a large King Kong-like gorilla. As players progress through the campaign, they unlock three additional islands: Tentacle Bay, Gearville, and Drifty Temples, each carrying a unique theme and set of environmental challenges.

While the open-world sandbox serves as a hub for events and practice runs, Push Square noted that the novelty of free-roaming across the islands wears off quickly due to limited non-racing activities. However, the open environment functions primarily as a launchpad for structured races and challenges, mirroring the format of other arcade titles.

Extensive Vehicle Roster and Customization Tools

The press release confirmed that Hot Wheels Infinite Rush features more than 150 vehicles divided into four classes. The garage includes original Hot Wheels designs alongside automotive icons like Ferrari models. Players can collect, test, and customize vehicles to build a personal Rush Squad.

Deep creative suites return to support the vehicle and track design. The press release states that the game includes Sticker and Livery editors complete with new wheel customization options. An enhanced Track Builder incorporates a new snap tool, allowing creators to anchor track pieces directly onto ground terrain or building architecture regardless of height or shape, and place special action markers to guide AI-controlled virtual opponents.

Game Modes, Multiplayer, and Event Variety

Beyond traditional racing, Hot Wheels Infinite Rush packs multiple event types and free-roaming activities. The press release outlined competitive options including Quick Race for first place, Elimination where trailing drivers drop out each lap, and Time Attack solo runs. Non-racing events feature Smashing Wheels target challenges, Drift Master point trials, and Waypoints checkpoint runs.

Additional free-roam tasks include Boost Stunt, Drift Stunt, Speed Stunt, Find the Flame, Tourist photo missions, Collectibles searches, Stuntman object destruction, and Daredevil 1-on-1 rival races that reward winning drivers with the opponent’s vehicle. Multiplayer features support full cross-platform play and split-screen sessions for up to four players, though the Nintendo Switch 2 version limits races to six competitors, according to the press release.
