Passing of Hugh Brown of Strabane

The community of Strabane is mourning the loss of Hugh Brown, a resident of 3 Glenside, Strabane, and formerly of Bearney. Mr. Brown passed away on May 15, 2026, at Altnagelvin Hospital.

Family and Legacy

Hugh Brown was a beloved member of his family and community. He is survived by his wife, Angela, and his children, Hugh Jnr. (Fiona) and Teresa (Conaire). He was a dearly loved grandfather to Christopher, Cormac, Ethan, Aoibheann, Aodhán, Oisin, and Aaron.

Mr. Brown also leaves behind his siblings: Theresa, Tommy, Frankie, Elizabeth, and Ita, as well as the memory of his late brother, Jarlath. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and extended family circle.

Funeral and Commemoration Services

Funeral arrangements have been finalized to honor Mr. Brown’s life. The family will hold a period of reposing at his home at 3 Glenside, Strabane, beginning at 6:00 PM on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The funeral will take place on Monday, May 18, 2026. The procession will leave his residence at 10:25 AM for a Requiem Mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strabane, which is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM. Following the service, interment will occur at the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Derry Road.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Renal Unit in Omagh. These contributions can be facilitated through Quigley Funeral Directors, located at Newtown Place, Strabane.
