A man who raped a woman after she had just given birth has been sentenced to eight years in prison and handed a lifetime Restraining Order.
Michael Wilkinson, 30-years-old, from Hull denied raping the woman who was still recovering from childbirth.
Wilkinson was first arrested in August 2025 and was jailed at Hull Crown Court on 6 January following a week long trial.
Following sentencing, Detective Constable Jen Rix from the Protecting Vulnerable People Unit, leading the investigation said: “We want to recognise the extraordinary courage shown by the victim throughout this investigation and the trial. Her strength has ensured that a dangerous individual has been brought to justice.
“This was an appalling and deeply violating offence, and Wilkinson targeted the woman at one of the most vulnerable moments in her life.
“His behaviour was predatory, callous, and showed complete disregard for her wellbeing, dignity, and safety.”
