Hunt: Showdown’s Devil’s Trail Update Brings New Monster, Scouting Mechanics, and Hidden Rewards

Hunters, prepare for a scorching new chapter in Hunt: Showdown with the launch of the Devil’s Trail update on March 18th, 2026. Update 2.7 introduces a new fire-breathing monster, revamped scouting and tracking mechanics, hidden extraction points, and coveted rewards, promising a challenging and dynamic gameplay experience.

Devil’s Trail Event: A New Challenge

The Devil’s Trail event transforms the bayou and mountains of Hunt: Showdown, introducing a new level of tension and strategic depth. Supply and Extraction Points are hidden at the start of each mission, requiring players to utilize new scouting methods to uncover their locations. The event will unfold in three waves of content, offering ongoing surprises and fresh ways to play. Crytek announced the update on March 4th, 2026.

Scouting and Tracking Evolved

A core element of the Devil’s Trail update is the evolution of scouting and tracking. Players can now reveal hidden locations through several methods:

  • Scout Towers: Two towers spawn per mission, containing interactive Scouting Maps that reveal hidden locations, new Tarot Cards, Custom Ammo, and Traits.
  • Scouting Maps: Discovering Scouting Maps in the world.
  • Bounty Tokens & Boss Targets: Extract locations are revealed after picking up a Bounty Token or banishing a Boss Target.
  • Tarot Cards: Using “The Chariot” Tarot Card.
  • Direct Discovery: Finding and interacting with points of interest directly.

Players can also utilize the Spyglass to identify locations, which will appear as icons above the compass.

New Points of Interest: Burned Convoys

Burned Convoys are new, in-world points of interest that offer valuable loot. These locations are not visible on the map by default and must be discovered through Scouting Maps or exploration. Rewards include the Catalyst Trait, Tarot Cards, and a full Health Restoration Kit. Burned Convoys are identifiable by the large plumes of smoke they emit.

New Monster: The Firebreather

A new fire-breathing monster roams the bayou and gulch, posing a significant threat to Hunters. This monster unleashes devastating, long-range fiery attacks. Players can temporarily halt its fire attacks with Choke Clouds or Water Bottles, and defeat it with ranged attacks, blunt weapons, or by directly striking it with these items. Explosives are not recommended against the Firebreather.

New Tarot Cards

The Devil’s Trail update introduces two new Tarot Cards:

  • The High Priestess: Reveals the direction of the nearest enemy Hunter for 30 seconds.
  • The Pathfinder: Highlights all used Clues on the map for a short amount of time.

New Trait

All Ears: Alters Dark Sight audio, lowering ambient noise and making enemy audio clearer. This trait can be found at Scout Towers and Burned Convoys for 2 Pledge Marks.

Lobby Codes and Cross-Play

The update also introduces Lobby Codes, allowing players to directly invite others to their teams. Cross-play is enabled between consoles (PS5 & Xbox Series X|S) and PC players on both MSstore and Steam. Lobbies will remain active even after a mission ends, facilitating continued gameplay with the same group.

Additional Updates

The update includes improvements to gunplay, UI changes, bug fixes, and new additions to the Shooting Range, including moving targets in the form of basic Hunter bots. The Port Sulphur Band has also released a new single, “The Devil’s Trail,” available on all major music platforms.
