One of the most beautiful days in Steffi Brungs’ life was followed shortly afterwards by a particularly difficult time.
Shortly after her wedding to her current husband Chris Wackert in 2019, the presenter was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She reported this for the first time in an emotional post on Instagram at the beginning of June 2025:
“Today I’m sharing something very personal with you: just a few weeks after our dream wedding in Hawaii, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer.”
She found it “incredibly difficult to talk about it for a long time.” However, that has now changed and she can deal openly with the topic. “Because I am so incredibly grateful that I am healthy,” the 36-year-old writes in conclusion.
Christian Wackert: Steffi Brungs’ partner
Steffi Brungs has been married to Christian Wackert, who is also known from breakfast television, since 2019. However, it is not broadcast for RTL, but for Sat.1. The two have been a couple since 2014. At the “Bild“Steffi Brungs told us how they met and they immediately clicked:
“We met at a friend’s student party. The last available seat at the party was next to Chris on the bed. We sat together from the first to the last minute and chatted until the party was over.”

“My health hasn’t been going so well in the last few months,” the presenter also revealed. She was operated on in the hospitalbut now she’s doing well again. She assured that she would continue to do her TV jobs.
