This initiative, backed by a 603 million won investment, aims to alleviate the financial burden that can prevent low-income individuals from seeking necessary medical care.

Who is Eligible for Support?

The health insurance premium support project will benefit residents of Hwaseong Special City who fall into the following categories:

• Recipients of livelihood, housing, and education benefits who pay less than the minimum insurance premium as local subscribers.
• Individuals in the next-lowest class of insurance subscribers.
• Single-parent families.

Eligible households will receive full coverage of both health insurance and long-term care insurance premiums for the elderly.

Addressing Barriers to Healthcare Access

The city recognized that unpaid insurance premiums can create a significant barrier to healthcare access. By proactively supporting these premiums, Hwaseong Special City aims to protect vulnerable populations and ensure they can receive the medical attention they need.

Streamlined Application Process

In a related development, Hwaseong City has also increased the coverage limit for injury medical expenses under the Citizen Safety Insurance from 700,000 KRW to 1,000,000 KRW . This is the highest coverage amount offered by any local government in the country.
