Latvian artist I MEAN LOVE will perform his first major concert, titled “KNOW THYSELF,” at the VEF Culture Palace Grand Hall in Riga on November 6. The artist himself refers to the event as the final concert of his first era.
The upcoming performance brings together various periods of the artist’s music and life, spanning from his earliest recordings to his newest works. The evening will feature specially created visual solutions, choreography, personal stories, and guest artists who have collaborated with him throughout his career.
Concert and new single
The concept behind “KNOW THYSELF,” meaning “Zini sevi,” has run through the artist’s creative work since its beginnings as an attempt to come closer to answering the question of identity through music, experience, and self-exploration. Alongside the concert preparations, I MEAN LOVE released a new single titled “Austrumi” in collaboration with producer Krish on November 1, with the release date chosen symbolically as 1.11., Sunday. The release serves symbolically as the boundary between two creative phases, functioning both as the final track of the first era and the beginning of a new period. For me, “Austrumi” is like a song of awakening – about the opportunity to take the next stage of the journey in a closer connection with one’s true nature and roots.
notes the artist.
Reflecting on his career milestones, the artist notes that the event provides an opportunity to look back at everything achieved and created over the past nine years. He views the project as closing the book on his first nine years so he can begin writing the next one, calling the concert a festive ritual to go through what has been experienced and celebrate it with listeners and those who have been part of his journey.
Guest artists and the musical journey
On November 6, several guest artists will join I MEAN LOVE on stage, including ansis, Būū, Prusax, Patrisha, Ods, Lessijs, and HUNN. The artist, whose real name is Raiens Rolands Šaubergs, began his musical journey at an early age and consciously returned to music in 2017.
Since his return, he has released five albums—The Secret
(2017), Spiritual Wellness
(2018), GAME
(2020), and 9
(2021)—along with the EP Rosa cracked
(2022) and the project Morning Sun
(2024) created with producer Krish. His music weaves together elements of hip-hop, R&B, soul, pop, and electronic music. They are all parts of me – both good and not so attractive.
