ICETEX Expands Support for Higher Education Access in Cali
ICETEX Community is actively supporting students in Cali, Valle del Cauca, as they plan for higher education. A recent orientation and training day, held on February 26, 2026, at the Institución Educativa Llano Verde, aimed to provide 190 students in grades 10 and 11 with the resources and guidance needed to pursue their academic and professional goals.
Orientation and Training Initiatives
The event, part of ICETEX’s Services Fair in Cali, featured pedagogical spaces focused on vocational guidance, socio-emotional strengthening, and information about educational financing options. The initiatives were tailored to each grade level, addressing the specific needs of students preparing for different stages of their educational journey.
Purposeful Orientation for 11th Grade Students
Eleventh-grade students participated in a “Orientation with Purpose” workshop. This workshop utilized reflective and participatory exercises to help students identify their interests, skills, and goals, and to explore various training routes aligned with their personal projects and the current labor market ICETEX.
Emotional Regulation and Well-being for 10th Grade Students
Tenth-grade students engaged in activities focused on emotional regulation, social skills development, and preparation for the challenges of transitioning to higher secondary education and professional life. These activities aim to foster more conscious and healthy educational environments.
Financing Options and Access to Higher Education
The event highlighted ICETEX’s Education for Work and Human Development (ETDH) credit line, which finances short-term training programs designed to facilitate rapid job insertion. This line supports a progressive trajectory, allowing students to advance from technical to technological and professional levels ICETEX.
Students likewise learned about academic offerings from over 25 higher education institutions in the region, expanding their awareness of accessible educational alternatives.
Inclusive Financing for Diverse Populations
Recognizing the diverse population of the Llano Verde sector, the event provided information about ICETEX financing funds targeted towards specific groups, including Black communities, Indigenous peoples (through the Álvaro Ulcué Chocué Fund), and victims of the armed conflict. This aims to promote a more inclusive and equitable education system.
