Egypt Industrial Development Bank Profit 2025

Egypt’s Industrial Development Bank generated a net profit of EGP 1bn in 2025, its first time reaching that financial milestone, Daily News Egypt reported.

The bank’s ordinary general assembly approved the financial accounts for the year ending 31 December 2025. Management attributed the results to a restructuring plan launched in mid-2024 to strengthen the bank’s position in the sector.

Chief Executive and Managing Director Hussein Refaie said the bank had moved past structural problems. He stated that IDB is now delivering strong growth supported by a clear strategy that speeds up business operations.

Total Assets and Deposits Grew Significantly in 2025

Total assets climbed 31% to reach EGP 64.9bn by the end of 2025. Customer deposits expanded at a faster pace, jumping 44% to EGP 52.1bn.

The bank’s loan book grew by 34% to EGP 34.6bn over the same 12-month period. Operating income climbed 33% to EGP 3.6bn, while profit before tax and provisions rose 47% to EGP 2.5bn.

Asset Quality Improvements

Non-performing loans dropped to 8.1% of total lending at the close of 2025, down from 13.9% a year earlier. Provision coverage climbed to 126% of bad loans, compared to 97% previously.

This coverage shift means the bank holds more in reserves than the value of its classified non-performing loans. Non-executive Chairman Akram Tinawi said the lender will continue financing strategic projects across industry, energy, urban development, and clean power.

Modernization Programme Drives Technology Spending and Shareholder Rewards

IDB spent approximately EGP 500mn on technology during 2025. This expenditure marks the first year of a five-year modernization programme targeting EGP 3bn in total tech investments.

The funds are supporting core banking systems, digital channels, cybersecurity, process automation, and mobile banking. Alongside these upgrades, the bank will reward shareholders with bonus shares for the first time in two decades.

Refaie called the 2025 fiscal year a milestone for the institution. He confirmed that the bank will press on with building an integrated banking model as a full-service commercial lender.

Industrial Development Bank Operations

  • Shareholder Returns: Issuing bonus shares for the first time in 20 years following the record profit.
  • Branch Network: Approving plans to open new branches and refurbish existing locations while updating products.
  • Strategic Focus: Widening the customer base while maintaining a core mandate centered on industrial credit.
