Ilze Jaunberga’s “Lion Republic” Exhibition to Open in Liepāja

Liepāja will host the first exhibition of paintings by Latvian artist Ilze Jaunberga, titled “Lion Republic,” at the Liepāja Latvian Society House on March 7, 2026. The exhibition, a multi-layered and symbolic work, is being held in celebration of the city’s birthday month.

A Symbol of Strength and Courage

The exhibition centers around the image of a lion, a symbol often associated with the strength and courage of a city’s inhabitants. A new work featuring the Liepāja lion, specifically created for this exhibition, will be unveiled, integrating it into a broader “republic of the world’s most powerful lions.”

Event Details

The opening of “Lion Republic” will grab place on March 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. In the Exhibition Gallery of the Liepāja Latvian Society House. Pianist Eduards Goldbergs will provide musical accompaniment, creating a dialogue between the visual art and music.

The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge from March 6 to April 5, 2026, in the Exhibition Gallery of the Latvian Society of Liepāja.
