One man who takes pride in his appearance is Edson Brandao – and he revealed how you can too. The 59-year-old Brazilian is the author of Young After 40: The Definitive Guide to Stay Younger and Healthier where he discusses his secrets to his ageless appearance. He’s also no stranger to sharing his anti-ageing hacks with his social media community – and his latest post is certainly no different.
Posting to his 731,000 followers on Instagram, Edson revealed he consumes a three-ingredient drink each morning which he claims comes with a whole host of health benefits.
He wrote: “Why do I drink chia water every day?” In the clip, it then shared information on the beverage which is said to be the “most powerful natural detox drink on Earth”.
It continued: “The seeds absorb the water and form a gel called mucilage, this gel goes into your gut cleans your intestines, soft brushes toxins, reduces bloating and keeps you full for hours and that’s just the beginning.
“This simple drink helps balance blood sugar levels, cuts cravings, boosts metabolism, supports heart health with omega-3 and even hydrates your skin from the inside.”
The video also shared the ‘real secret’ which involves adding lemon juice to ‘supercharge it’. This fruit also adds vitamin C, antioxidants, minerals and helps your liver burn fat, support digestion, reduce water retention and makes skin clearer.
To make the drink, add water with chia seeds then wait 10-15 minutes for it to absorb. To turn it up a notch, squeeze in half a lemon, stir and drink it on an empty stomach.
In the video, the information concluded: “Do this for just 7 days, your stomach gets so much flatter, skin looks fresher and your energy goes up.”
Heathline reports chia seeds and water come with plenty of benefits. It said: “Eating them soaked in water may help promote hydration, healthy digestion, and lower hunger, which can support weight loss goals.
“They’re a good source of fibre, protein, unsaturated fats, and antioxidants. They also include several important micronutrients, including calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc.”
It also states chia seeds in water may reduce high blood pressure and inflammation, also has benefits for heart health, bone health, blood sugar management and potential skin benefits.
The NHS suggests people should add 1 tablespoon of chia seeds or flax seeds to their meals.
