Ambassador Mariano Caucino Cites India as Argentina’s Sixth Largest Economic Partner

India has climbed to become Argentina’s sixth largest economic partner, Argentine Ambassador Mariano Caucino announced on October 30, 2026, during an address in Neemrana, Rajasthan. Speaking at the Words Beyond Borders 2026 Conclave held at Raffles University, Caucino stated that the bilateral link between the two countries continues to expand to new heights due to deep economic complementarity, according to a press release issued by the Embassy of Argentina and reported by ANI.

The Argentine envoy pointed out that his country contributes directly to India’s food security by serving as its largest provider of edible oils. Beyond agriculture, Caucino noted that both nations are already cooperating in the mining sector and actively exploring new avenues for energy cooperation, drawing attention to Argentina’s huge reserves of gas in Vaca Muerta. He explained that these collaborative efforts respond to global economic challenges, noting that Foreign Minister Dr Jaishankar recently highlighted pressures on energy, food, fertilisers and finances that require India to engage reliable international partners.

Diplomatic Panels and South American Interdependence

During the conclave, Ambassador Caucino shared a discussion panel with several regional diplomats, including Uruguay Ambassador Alberto Guani, Peruvian Ambassador to Finland Ernesto Pinto Bazuco Rittler, and former Chilean Ambassador to India Jorge Heine. Caucino emphasized that the growing cooperation between India and South American nations demonstrates global interdependence, proving that a country as India can forge natural partnerships in distant regions. He added that the bilateral relationship has evolved fundamentally over the past seven or eight years as shared values aligned with converging national interests.

He asserted that India and Asia broadly represent natural partners for South American nations, driven by the strong demands of the 21st-century global economy.
