Horror movie Insidious: Fuera del Más Allá pulled in $25.3 million during its opening weekend in the United States, according to box office data from The Numbers. Produced by Blumhouse and Atomic Monster, the latest installment in the supernatural franchise finished just behind the fourth-week holdover Spider-Man: Brand New Day to secure the second spot at the North American box office.
Global Box Office Performance and Production Budget
The film’s domestic debut aligns closely with past entries in the long-running horror series. According to The Numbers, the $25.3 million opening ranks as the third-highest start for the franchise, trailing Insidious: La puerta roja at $33 million and Insidious: La tercera llave at $29 million, while beating the $22.7 million opening of Insidious Chapter 3 in 2015.
International markets added $35 million to the total during the same window, bringing the worldwide opening haul to $60.3 million. That global return more than triples the film’s production budget of $18 million.
Plot and Franchise Direction
Directed by Jacob Chase, the narrative centers on Gemma, played by Amelia Eve, a young mother who realizes she can travel to the spiritual dimension known as The Further directly from her childhood home. When a trio of intruders targets the suburban residence, the family gets pulled into the astral plane, where they confront a reality tied to the physical world.
The Wider North American Box Office
While the horror sequel drew strong ticket sales, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day retained the top spot domestically in its fourth weekend. The superhero release brought in an additional $39 million—marking a 45% drop from the previous frame—to reach a domestic cumulative total of $854.9 million and a worldwide gross of $2.219 billion, based on data provided by The Numbers.
Overall, the North American weekend box office from August 21 to August 23 reached approximately $128 million.
