A coalition of 40 institutional investors and asset managers, managing over €3.8 trillion in assets, has called on governments to halt deep-sea mining until the environmental and social impacts are fully assessed. Their statement, titled “Global Financial Institutions Statement to Governments on Deep Seabed Mining,” emphasizes the need for rigorous research and the exploration of terrestrial alternatives.
