Iran’s Parliament Speaker Claims Israel Faced Greater Defeat in Recent Unrest Than in 2023 Conflict

Tehran, IranMohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, has asserted that Israel experienced a “more humiliating defeat” during the recent period of unrest within Iran than it did during the 12-day conflict initiated last June. This statement comes amidst heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, and follows accusations from Iranian officials regarding Israeli involvement in recent disturbances.

According to reports from Press TV, Qalibaf stated that the Israeli regime engaged in what he described as “simultaneous and organized terrorist operations” across multiple Iranian cities. However, he claims these operations were swiftly countered, resulting in a defeat for Israel within 48 hours that surpassed the setbacks experienced during the previous military engagement.

Qalibaf specifically lauded the efforts of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in safeguarding the nation, acknowledging their contributions during both the earlier conflict and the recent unrest. He further characterized the disturbances as mirroring the tactics of the Daesh terrorist group, alleging that participants were motivated by anti-religious ideologies and were fully trained by Israel, the united States, and their allies.

This declaration arrives following a period of increased regional volatility and ongoing concerns about potential escalation. The Iranian government has consistently accused foreign entities, especially Israel and the US, of attempting to destabilize the country through various means, including support for opposition groups and orchestrating acts of sabotage.

The claims made by Qalibaf are likely to further exacerbate existing tensions and could potentially lead to retaliatory actions. International observers are closely monitoring the situation, urging restraint and diplomatic solutions to prevent further escalation in the region. The assertion of a more significant defeat for Israel than the previous conflict represents a strong condemnation from a key Iranian political figure and underscores the gravity of the perceived threat.
