MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja morant will be sidelined for at least teh next three weeks due to a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow, the team announced Saturday. The injury occurred during Wednesday’s 124-122 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
Morant, a two-time All-Star, will be re-evaluated in approximately three weeks to assess his progress. This latest injury represents another challenge in a difficult season for the Grizzlies’ star point guard. He previously missed six games with a right calf injury before returning to action on Sunday in a 126-109 victory over the Orlando Magic in London.
Through 20 games this season, Morant is averaging 19.5 points, 8.1 assists, adn 3.3 rebounds. His limited availability has coincided with ongoing trade speculation surrounding the Grizzlies’ franchise player. The team has struggled to maintain consistency in his absence, and his return will be crucial for their playoff aspirations.
The Grizzlies will need to rely on other players to step up during Morant’s absence as thay navigate a competitive Western Conference landscape. Further updates on his condition will be provided as they become available.
