Trabzonspor Climbs Twenty-Five Places in UEFA Rankings
Trabzonspor jumped 25 spots in the European club rankings following consecutive victories in the UEFA Europa Conference League, according to official UEFA data cited by 61saat. The Turkish club moved from 166th to 141st place at the start of the current season, raising its total points to 12,500. The Turkish team’s Egyptian star, Mohamed Salah, spearheaded the campaign, leading the team to win against KuPS in Finland and Hearts in Scotland. Overall, Bayern Munich leads the European club rankings, followed by Arsenal in second place and Real Madrid in third. Paris Saint-Germain is fourth, Inter fifth, Liverpool sixth, Manchester City seventh, and Barcelona eighth. Among Turkish clubs, Fenerbahçe leads the European standings with 60,750 points, placing 27th globally. Galatasaray occupies the 46th position, Başakşehir ranks 98th, and Beşiktaş stands 119th.
Mohamed Salah Drives European Success
Muhammed Salah delivered ten goals and five assists across his last ten matches in all competitions for Trabzonspor, according to the Turkish sources. The Egyptian forward scored from the penalty spot and assisted Franculino Dju in a 2-0 victory over Hearts at Papara Park.
British broadcaster BBC noted that the former Liverpool standout now acts as a talisman for his new club. The Edinburgh Evening News observed that Trabzonspor did not need a flawless team display because Salah’s individual quality proved decisive.
The Herald noted that Hearts struggled against Trabzonspor while battling injuries, while Daily Record stated that there was nothing shameful about losing away to a Trabzonspor side featuring Salah. Dju earned the penalty in the first half after being brought down inside the area, and Salah converted from the spot. In the second half, Dju exchanged passes with Salah before the young forward scored from the Egyptian’s pass.
Hearts Faces Severe Injury Crisis After Trabzonspor Defeat
Hearts suffered an injury toll reaching eight players following the 2-0 defeat in Trabzon, Sözcü Gazetesi reported. Defender Harry Milne tore his knee ligaments during the final tactical training session at Trabzon and faces a lengthy recovery.
Midfielder Christian Borchgrevink also strained his hamstring during the ninety minutes. Hearts Captain Jamie McCart told Scottish media that the squad refuses to use fitness problems as an excuse for the continental loss.
Four of the injured players face months-long absences, forcing manager Wouter Vrancken to deploy multiple players out of their usual positions. McCart praised Rogers Mato for showing great resilience at left-back, a role outside his usual attacking position, and noted the value of Jordi Altena moving into midfield. McCart added that Milne’s injury occurred during a simple, sudden movement in training and stated that rotating players during such a congested schedule is nearly impossible.
Domestic Momentum and Fixture Pressure
Trabzonspor won all four of its matches following the international break, scoring eleven goals and conceding two, according to the Turkish sources. Thomas Reis guided the team past Samsunspor 3-0, KuPS 4-2, Beşiktaş 2-0, and Hearts 2-0.
Fotomaç highlighted strong defensive shifts from Samet Akaydin and Cenk Özkaçar alongside the energetic midfield work of Mendy. The team prepares to face Çaykur Rizespor in the Süper Lig to conclude an unbeaten October.
The Black Sea team previously defeated Samsunspor 3-0 away and KuPS Kuopio 4-2 away in the UEFA Europa Conference League, collecting six points from two matches in the competition. Referee Lawrence Visser issued a second yellow card to Cabral in the 90+5th minute after he merely touched an opponent’s shoulder, a decision described as very harsh.
