Jacksonville Faces Baltimore as Injuries Mount for the Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens enter Thursday night as heavy 10-point underdogs against the Jacksonville Jaguars, with 43 of 44 pundits picking a Jacksonville victory according to pregame analysis. Baltimore has dropped three consecutive games and must start undrafted rookie quarterback Joe Fagnano on a short week, while the 5-2 Jaguars hold first place in the AFC South.
Trade Deadline Additions Meet Immediate Quarterback Crisis
The Ravens are finalizing a trade for veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett to stabilize the roster after injuries sidelined Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley long-term. Brissett brings 73 career starts across 11 NFL seasons and familiarity with quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfork, though his career record stands at 23-50. Fagnano will make his first career start against Jacksonville on Thursday night, while Brissett is expected to join the team for Week 10.
Derrick Henry Faces Jacksonville Rushing Defense Without DaVon Hamilton
Baltimore’s offense attempts to jump-start two-time rushing king Derrick Henry, who has failed to reach 60 rushing yards in any game during the team’s current three-game skid. The Jaguars counter with the NFL’s top rushing defense, allowing a league-low 3.4 yards per carry, though that unit recently lost run-stuffing defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton to a season-ending torn quadriceps muscle. Ravens defensive coordinator Jesse Minter must find answers against a Jacksonville offense directed by Trevor Lawrence, who is playing the best football of his career following a 42-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Questions Surrounding Thursday Night Matchup
* Will Joe Fagnano manage points against an elite Jacksonville defense in his first career start?
* Can Jacoby Brissett rescue Baltimore’s playoff hopes after joining the team for Week 10?
* How will the Jaguars’ run defense perform without DaVon Hamilton against Derrick Henry?
More on Derrick Henry
The Ravens' trade for QB Jacoby Brissett shows where they are heading into next week's trade deadline. They're not waiving the white flag, but they are not in position as a team to invest significant assets into trying to fill holes.

Jacoby Brissett had a decent-sized cap hit entering 2026, but just a $1.3 million base salary — and the Ravens will have to pay only a prorated share for as long as he's on the team.https://t.co/S8Lx4Lu1i1 pic.twitter.com/kFJELj3k6H
Prior to the completion of the trade to Baltimore, the Cardinals restructured the contract of QB Jacoby Brissett, converting $2.7M of his remaining $5.4M salary into a signing bonus. The Ravens will now owe Brissett a base salary of $2.7M if the deal is completed today prior to…
