Jakub Moder Confident in Feyenoord’s Pursuit Despite Challenging Period
Feyenoord midfielder Jakub Moder has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to overcome a recent difficult patch, emphasizing the need for character and quality in upcoming matches against Excelsior and Ajax. Moder recently returned to the squad after a lengthy recovery from a back injury.
Pressure and Team Spirit
Acknowledging the increased pressure surrounding the club, Moder believes Feyenoord possesses the talent to turn their fortunes around. “If I speak for myself, I am very confident that we can beat Excelsior and Ajax. Of course from now on every match will feel like a final. We should actually have been ten to fifteen points clear. But this is the reality now. We have to stand up and reveal character, but above all show quality. We have a lot of good players in the team. If we play well, show character and show real team spirit on the pitch, we can beat anyone,” he stated according to Feyenoord ONE.
Personal Milestones
Moder has also been experiencing positive developments off the field. “The past few weeks have gone well for me personally,” he shared. “I have recovered from my injury. Things are also going well in private with a baby. So on a personal level, things are going well. Becoming a father is very nice, but of course it is tough with a baby. Short nights, especially for my wife. Busy days, that is different than before. But it’s great to be a dad.”
Recovery from Injury
The Polish international underwent surgery in Poland to address a back injury sustained during pre-season preparation. “It was a long recovery period for me. Ultimately we went for surgery. It wasn’t a big one, but it was necessary. I had this done in Poland. After two or three weeks I was able to start rehabilitation again. It took a even as, but now I feel good. I’m back on the field and fit,” Moder explained.
Return to Play
Moder made his return to the Feyenoord team during the away match against Real Betis. He reflected on the experience, stating, “It was a long time ago, but I had not forgotten how to play football and what it feels like to be on the field. Injuries are the worst thing that has happened to me during my career. I already knew a little bit what it was like to return. I knew I wasn’t going to play ninety minutes straight away, we built it up slowly. I’m working hard to gain back to my old fitness level. Also football-technically. I’m slowly moving in the right direction.”
Importance of Trust and Teamwork
Moder emphasized the importance of trust from the coaching staff and the need for collective effort. “I get a lot of confidence from the staff. I work hard during every training session. So I think I deserve these playing minutes. It all fits together. I have a strong character, especially on the field. Off the field I am a little calmer. But on the field I always offer 100 percent for the team and my teammates. It’s not just about me, it’s about the team. As mentioned, the club is in a difficult period, which is difficult for everyone. We feel that, we also feel the pressure from all sides. We have to do it together, that is the only way to turn the tide. We still have eight games to go and are still second. So the starting point is good.”
