James Acaster Halts Filming After Traitors Confession
James Acaster broke down and filming was temporarily halted on BBC One’s The Celebrity Traitors after he was rumbled as a Traitor by Michael Sheen, thesun.ie reported. The penultimate episode, airing ahead of the final tomorrow at 8pm on BBC One, captured the dramatic fallout of Acaster’s sudden confession at the Round Table.
Production Intervention and Emotional Toll
Producers stepped in to halt production after Acaster reached a breaking point under the psychological and physical strain of the game. Welfare staff checked on the comic before the Round Table vote as fellow Traitor Maya Jama appeared enraged by the twist. An insider revealed that both producers and cast members noticed Acaster struggling to keep his identity secret. Filming did not resume until they were sure everyone involved was in a fit state to continue, though much of the distress was edited out of the final broadcast to present a continuous Round Table session.

Michael Sheen’s Vengeful Strategy
Michael Sheen adopted an aggressive tactical approach to corner the remaining players after watching 11 Faithfuls depart. Sheen targeted contestants who had flown under the radar, directly confronting Acaster at breakfast and during the game. Sheen noted he had previously given Acaster a free pass because the comic raised no suspicions. Faced with the direct accusation, Acaster opted not to fight back and immediately admitted his role, stating he had been made a Traitor without wanting to be one.
Remaining Contestants and Upcoming Final
Following Acaster’s banishment, seven celebrities remain in the competition ahead of the final episode. The remaining players comprise Traitors Maya Jama and King Kenny, alongside Faithfuls Sebastian Croft, Romesh Ranganathan, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, James Blunt, and Michael Sheen. Acaster noted after his exit that his departure removes the certainty of a straightforward Traitor victory, setting up a competitive final.
