Longer working hours for tourist attractions during the festival

This weekend, February 7 and 8, Jelgava invites visitors to the 27th International Ice Sculpture Festival, the theme of which this year is “The Power of Illusion”. At the same time as the festival, the city’s most important tourist attractions will work during extended hours to provide an opportunity to get to know ice art works and the city’s cultural and historical heritage in person, as the portal jauns.lv informs.
Cultural and entertainment offer
The festival will offer not only impressive ice sculptures, but also a diverse entertainment program suitable for the whole family. Visitors will be able to enjoy sculpting demonstrations, science shows with experiments, illusionist performances, as well as ice games and a slide for children. The concerts will be performed by well-regarded musicians in Latvia, including the group “Instrumenti”, Normunds Rutulis with the Famous Riga Orchestra and ethnomusic group “Tautumeitas”. With the onset of darkness, a laser show will light up the festival grounds.
Extended working hours for tourist attractions
To ensure a comfortable visit to tourist attractions during the festival, several of them will be open longer. The exhibition hall of the Jelgava Holy Trinity Church tower, viewing area and historical expositions, as well as the Tourist Information Center will be open on February 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on February 8 – from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Jelgava’s Old Town House will welcome visitors on February 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on February 8 – from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, in the Old Town House at At 15:00 there will also be a tour about the history of the house and the progress of the restoration.
The offer of museums and other objects
The Gederts Elias Jelgava Museum of History and Art will be open to visitors on Saturday, February 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Sunday, February 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Adolf Alunāns Memorial Museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on both days of the festival. On the other hand, the collection of historical vehicles of “Anru motors” will be open on February 7 and 8 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
