Mabel Cooney (née O’Rourke), a longtime resident of Limerick, Ireland, and more recently of King’s Park, New York, passed away peacefully on March 16th, 2026, at the age of 95. She was surrounded by her family in New York at the time of her death.

Early Life and Family

Born and raised in Limerick, Ireland, Mabel was originally from Athlunkard Street and later resided on Lynwood Park, St. Patrick’s Road. She was predeceased by her husband, John Cooney.

Family and Legacy

Mabel is deeply mourned by her daughters, Sheila, May, and Kathleen; her son, John; her son-in-law, Ken; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a wide circle of relatives and friends.
