Julius Gaudio Appointed Co-Chair of Crisis Group’s Board

The International Crisis Group announced the appointment of Julius Gaudio, a long-time supporter and philanthropist, as Co-Chair of its Board of Directors on March 17, 2026. Gaudio will share the role with Susana Malcorra, who has served as Co-Chair since 2021. Frank Giustra will continue as a Director, and Trustee.

Leadership Transition and Vision

“I’m thrilled to welcome Julius as my Co-Chair”, said Susana Malcorra. “In these tumultuous times, Crisis Group’s work to prevent and finish conflict is more vital than ever. Julius has been a steadfast champion of this mission, a trusted sounding board and a driving force behind our ambition. As Crisis Group enters its fourth decade and pursues a bold new strategic direction, I can think of no better partner.”

Frank Giustra, the retiring Co-Chair, added, “Julius’ global outlook, decades of strategic leadership experience and sustained commitment to social impact make him an excellent choice to helm the Board. I wholeheartedly congratulate him on the appointment.”

“I am honoured and excited to grab on the role of Co-Chair of the Board”, stated Mr. Gaudio. “The mission of Crisis Group is close to my heart, and it has never been more vital. At a time when conflicts seem harder to prevent or end, and more people are displaced than at any point since World War II, there is enormous appetite for Crisis Group’s deep analysis, pragmatic ideas and on-the-ground perspectives. I look forward to working closely with Susana, the Board and staff to pursue the vision of a more peaceful world.”
