Voice Actor Junya Enoki Demands Cat Cosplay From Hiroki Yasumoto for Birthday Special
Voice actors Hiroki Yasumoto and Junya Enoki debated bizarre birthday requests during the October 5, 2024, broadcast of the ABEMA original program Voice Actors’ Night Asobi. The episode featured a planning meeting for Enoki’s upcoming birthday special ahead of his October 19 birthday, resulting in on-air clashes when Enoki demanded that his co-host wear a cat costume.
Staff members organized a segment titled “A Meeting to Figure Out What Makes Enoki Happy” because producers felt they still do not fully understand the voice actor’s preferences despite six months of hosting together. Enoki evaluated various proposed celebration plans using a two-choice system of “happy” or “not so much.”
Birthday Demands and Agency Rejections
When staff suggested a plan centered on viewers praising him, Enoki rejected the idea by stating he is already used to receiving praise. Instead, he requested a personal altar, telling Yasumoto that he wanted staff to worship him rather than just praise him.
The discussion later turned to animals. Although staff proposed having Enoki play with 100 cats, Enoki noted he has a cat allergy. He countered with a different idea, asking Yasumoto to wear a cat costume and entertain him instead. Yasumoto immediately rejected the proposition, stating that his talent agency would turn down the request. When Enoki insisted he would negotiate directly with Yasumoto without involving the agency, Yasumoto laughed and refused again.
