The property, known for its unique architecture and tranquil setting, is being offered by The Estate Brokers for 29.9 million Czech crowns (approximately $1.3 million USD as of March 1, 2026).

A Legacy in Hodkovičky

The Hodkovičky district is a sought-after residential area known for its luxurious villas and peaceful atmosphere. Jaroslav Dietl, the renowned screenwriter behind popular Czechoslovak series like Hospital on the Edge of the City, reportedly recommended the plot of land to Jakubisko. Dietl, a prominent figure in Czechoslovak television, passed away in 1985.

Villa Details

The three-story villa, encompassing 445 square meters of living space, features a distinctive tower, high ceilings, arched passageways, and large windows. It includes a spacious kitchen, terraces, a balcony, and a slightly overgrown garden. A key feature of the property is its indoor swimming pool, offering a private retreat. The estate also boasts two separate garages.

From Cinematic Hub to Market Listing

For years, the villa served as both a home and a creative space for Jakubisko, who hosted numerous colleagues and friends within its walls. However, the director faced financial difficulties, leading to the property being lost in foreclosure.

The villa was initially auctioned for 28 million crowns but ultimately sold for 12.5 million crowns due to outstanding debts totaling 77 million crowns. According to reports, the financial issues stemmed from debts incurred during the production of Jakubisko’s films.
