Juvenile Whale Found Dead on Tanjung Aru Beach in Kota Kinabalu
KOTA KINABALU, March 22 — A juvenile whale previously observed at the Sutera Harbour Resort jetty and subsequently released back into the sea was discovered deceased on Tanjung Aru Beach, near the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort, on Saturday.
According to reports from Info X, the carcass of the marine mammal was found stranded amongst rocks along the beach at approximately noon. Personnel from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), stationed at the beach, made the discovery.
The incident follows a prior sighting of the whale at Sutera Harbour, where efforts were made to return it to its natural habitat. The cause of death is currently unknown and will require investigation by marine authorities.
