Retro silhouette, but new technology under the surface. The Kalmar 7-97 Turbo Edition is aimed at collectors, will offer a roof as well as an open variant and, in addition to details inspired by the classics, adds honestly solved aero, which was also created on the basis of simulations.
The first Porsche 911 Turbo (930), which celebrated half a century last year, is rightfully a legend. However, its technology is tricky, so Kalmar took this car and built it on the technology of the much more recent 993. The result is the 7-97 “Turbo Edition” in blue paint with black wheels. The automaker will produce only 11 units of it, and it can be either with or without a roof, depending on the owner’s wishes.
Although the body of the car deliberately evokes the impression of the 930 Turbo, there are more than enough new details. For example, the front bumper played a role in testing. At a speed of around 300 km/h, the car lost pressure on the front axle and went sideways. He thus recalled the nickname of the original 911 Turbo, which was called “the widower” due to its sometimes somewhat erratic driving characteristics.
Therefore, the finished car has a profile under the front bumper like a 1967 911 R. The precisely designed shape of the rear wing is related to the front, so that the car as a whole is aerodynamically neutral.

At the back, an air-cooled 3.2-liter boxer works, which is based on an aggregate from motoring legend Hans Mezger. The new Kalmar engine was developed together with the company Lorrtec and they put it all together to measure. Compared to the engine from the 993 Turbo, this engine has lighter, smaller-diameter pistons and reinforced cylinder walls to withstand higher boost pressure. The cylinder head gaskets and valve seats are copper and beryllium, the custom cam system and the intake system is inspired by the racing Porsche 962 Group C.

New boss, new order? The Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster may not arrive on electricity at all
New components are matched by custom-designed fuel maps. The result is 418 kW (568 hp) and 600 Nm of torque, which is transmitted to the rear wheels by a six-speed manual transmission with adjustable traction control. At the same time, 340 Nm is available from 2500 rpm. The maximum speed is 328 km/h.
The highlight of the chassis is adjustable TracTive adaptive dampers, and the car rides on magnesium wheels equipped with a locking center nut. The tires are from Michelin. Between the spokes of the wheels we can notice the carbon-ceramic brakes.

The interior of the car is carried in the same pure spirit. The key element here is soft leather with embossed details. The instrument panel consists of five round dials, in which to the left of the tachometer is an “active indicator” showing engine maps, suspension settings and integration of other entertainment. At the bottom center of the dashboard is infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Only eleven customers will have the choice of either a travel version with softer materials and a higher level of comfort, or a lighter, more spartan version. The price is 15.5 to 18.5 million crowns, but to that you need to add the donor 993, whose prices are attacking records today.
