Kauno Žalgiris Secures 2-1 Victory Over Džiugas Telšiai, Maintaining Top League Position
Kauno Žalgiris continued their winning streak with a 2-1 victory over Džiugas Telšiai on Saturday, marking their third win of the season. The match, held in Klaipėda, saw Telšiai suffer their first defeat in the Toplyga league.
The decisive goal came from Leo Ribeiro in the 78th minute, securing the win for the defending Lithuanian football champions. Kauno Žalgiris has now won three consecutive matches, solidifying their position at the top of the league standings.
Earlier in the match, Fabien Ourega opened the scoring for Kauno Žalgiris, even as Valentino Vermeulen equalized for Džiugas Telšiai. Despite Vermeulen’s goal, Džiugas Telšiai were unable to maintain momentum, ultimately falling to a 2-1 defeat. Kauno Žalgiris currently holds the first position in the league, while Džiugas Telšiai ranks fourth.
