Kayem Foods Recalls 1.5 Million Pounds of Ready-to-Eat Meat and Poultry Products Due to Temperature Abuse

Kayem Foods Inc. is recalling approximately 1,584,361 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products because the items may have experienced temperature abuse during storage, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reported. The Chelsea, Massachusetts, establishment produced the affected items between March 31, 2026, and October 7, 2026. The nationwide and international recall covers a variety of meat and poultry products of various weights shipped to retail and foodservice locations across the United States as well as Hong Kong. Warehouse Cooler Deviations Sparked Customer Complaint

The issue came to light on October 1, 2026, when Kayem Foods received a retail customer complaint about warm product temperatures at the point of delivery. An internal investigation by the firm revealed that various ready-to-eat meat and poultry products had been stored in a warehouse cooler that experienced temperature deviations.

Federal regulators have not confirmed any reports of adverse reactions or illnesses due to the consumption of these items. However, the FSIS advises consumers who have purchased these products not to eat them. Customers should throw the items away or return them to the place of purchase.

Consumer Guidance and Agency Verification Checks

Federal food safety inspectors routinely conduct recall effectiveness checks to ensure that companies notify customers promptly and remove affected goods from the supply chain. Retail distribution lists will be posted on the FSIS website as they become available.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Kraig Naasz, media spokesperson for Kayem Foods Inc., at 703-628-3669 or via email at media@kayem.com.
