Kent State Baseball Opens MAC Play with Momentum, Faces Bowling Green

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State baseball team begins Mid-American Conference play this weekend, hosting Bowling Green at Schoonover Stadium. The series opens Friday at 3 p.m., marking the start of conference competition for both programs. Kent State enters with a 9-3 record, leading the MAC in several key statistical categories, while Bowling Green is 2-8.

Flashes Riding High

Kent State has found its stride, going 4-0 at home with sweeps of Rhode Island and a midweek victory over St. Bonaventure. The team is second in the MAC with 96 runs scored through 12 games. The Flashes’ pitching staff leads the conference in ERA (4.38), WHIP (1.34), strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.65), walks allowed per nine innings (3.06), and fielding percentage (.980).

Solitaria Leads the Way

Bowling Green’s Challenges

Bowling Green has struggled early in the season, allowing opponents to hit .390 against their pitching staff – the worst mark in the MAC. However, the Falcons have shown offensive potential with Sam Seidel batting .378 with two home runs, six RBI, and a team-leading seven stolen bases. Vinny Salvione (.289) and Zack Horky (.229, 2 HR) also provide offensive spark. The Falcons rank 2nd in the MAC and 55th nationally with 10 double plays in 10 games.
