South Carolina and Kentucky Play to Overtime After Late Field Goal
South Carolina and Kentucky headed to overtime tied at 27-27 after Kentucky kicked a late field goal in regulation.
Sellers Sparks Fourth-Quarter Gamecocks Touchdown
The fourth quarter opened with South Carolina threatening after quarterback LaNorris Sellers broke free for a 74-yard run that carried the Gamecocks inside the five-yard line. A penalty wiped out an apparent touchdown on the next snap, but Sellers quickly recovered by connecting with D.J. Black for a 15-yard scoring pass. Orsan added the extra point to give South Carolina a 27-24 lead with 13:14 left in the game.
Kentucky stalled on its ensuing possession and punted back to South Carolina at the 12:14 mark. The Gamecocks drove deep into Kentucky territory, but Sellers fumbled on a fourth-and-two from the 22-yard line. Wildcats defender Godfrey recovered the loose ball to halt the threat with 9:36 remaining.
Minchey Leads Wildcats Game-Tying Drive
Kentucky quarterback CJ Minchey absorbed a sack on the first play after the fumble, but immediately rebounded by finding Darby for a 22-yard gain and a first down. Javonte Barnes then broke through the middle for a 16-yard run across midfield. Minchey followed with a 15-yard completion to Anderson and a seven-yard scramble to reach the South Carolina 20-yard line.

The drive stalled inside the red zone, forcing Kentucky to settle for a 29-yard Zouagui field goal that tied the game at 27 apiece with 4:14 on the clock. South Carolina managed one first down on its next possession before punting, handing the ball back to the Wildcats at their own 14-yard line with exactly two minutes remaining in regulation.
Regulator Clock Management Sets Up Overtime
Minchey methodically moved Kentucky down the field with short completions, finding Willie Rodriguez for an 11-yard gain alongside two more passes to Darby to reach midfield. Facing a crucial third-and-one with 27 seconds left, Minchey scrambled for a first down to keep the drive alive. The Wildcats were unable to punch the ball into the end zone before the clock expired, sending the contest into overtime.
